Improve Your Digital Marketing Strategy with These e-Commerce Statistics

Posted by on Apr 17, 2019 in Ecommerce |

It is estimated that there are 18.43 million eCommerce users in South Africa, but what are these people’s online behaviours, expectations, and preferences? How can you tailor your e-commerce digital marketing, content marketing, social media marketing, and website design strategies to meet their unique needs and wants? We hope that the following statistics can help with that… Page Loading Speed  Studies have found that slower page loading speeds, even those delayed by a mere second, can result in 7% fewer conversions. Reduce loading speeds (you should be aiming for a maximum loading time of three seconds) by paying close attention to the file size of the images you use in your website design. Less isn’t More  It would seem that the number of landing pages you have on your website has a dramatic impact on the number of conversions you generate. Research has shown that companies with more than 40 landing pages saw 12 times more leads than companies with five or less. Mobile Matters  When it comes to e-commerce, it is all about mobile marketing and ensuring that your website is 100% mobile-friendly. This year, mobile e-commerce sales are expected to make up more than 63.5% of all e-commerce sales. Streamline Your Checkout Process  A complicated, long-winded checkout process results in the loss of copious amounts of business. For example, 35% of transactions are lost when websites require shoppers to create accounts before making a payment. Retargeting is Wise  Worried that spending money on retargeting isn’t worth it? Relax. Our sources say that three out of four users notice retargeting ads and that people are 70% zamore likely to convert when retargeted with display ads. SEO 101: How to Optimise Images

Posted by on Apr 15, 2019 in SEO |

The focus of SEO has been on website design and content marketing for a while now. Because of this, many of us tend to forget just how valuable SEO optimised images can be when it comes to rankings and boosting traffic on our websites. Did you know that images which have been SEO optimised also have faster loading times, ultimately improving user experience? It’s true! Here’s how to go about it… Pay Attention to Image and File Size/Format  Remember that PNG, JPEG, and GIF are all great file formats for web images (most experts suggest using JPEG for colourful images and PNG for images that are a bit simpler). You will also want to avoid using high-res images on your website as these can extend page loading times and lead to a higher bounce rate. The secret is to compress high-res images to reduce their size without affecting their overall aesthetic quality. Photoshop works well for this, as do other tools like Affinity Photo and Pixlr. Name Your Images Strategically  “Image_0974536” is doing you no favours. Boost your SEO tremendously by naming each web image with descriptive keywords – preferably the same keywords that you use in your content – for best results. Separate each keyword using hyphens rather than underscores (search engines cannot recognise these). Utilise Alt Tags  Alt tags help search engine spiders to ‘read’ your images – so be sure to keep these descriptive too. It’s important to avoid keyword stuffing, however, and to aim to include no more than 15 words per tag. Say No to Stock Imagery  Using stock imagery may be a cheaper alternative to having your own professional photos taken, but doing so can hurt user experience and your SEO. Other websites are bound to be using the same images, which is why your website is likely to take a knock in terms of its rankings. When it comes to all forms of SEO and website design and development, WSI OMS can assist you in optimising your efforts. 3 Ways To Tweak Your Website Design To Attract More Customers

Posted by on Apr 10, 2019 in Content Marketing |

When it comes to website design, it’s all about user experience. However, what that means for one company may be entirely different from what it means for another.   Pay Attention To Loading Times  Did you know that if your web page takes longer than three seconds to load, 53% of visitors will click away and look elsewhere? Surprising, but true. Therefore, while gorgeous graphics look amazing and are often the crux of website design, too many of them (especially high-def or animated versions) may take away from the value of the user experience. If you’ve noticed that your bounce rate is higher than usual since updating your website design, it will definitely be worthwhile to test the loading times of each page to see if that is the underlying issue.   Provide Educational And Informative Content  Yes, a website’s main function is to promote your brand and its offering. However, too much promotional content can make it difficult for potential customers to relate to your business and may result in them turning to your competition for ‘more’. This is where content marketing comes in. It is essential that you provide plenty of interesting, informative and educational content too, as this is the content that is sure to resonate with your audience and is more likely to generate engagement.   Take Customers On A Journey  The key is to hold your visitors’ attention for as long as possible. One way in which to do this is to take them on a journey that flows seamlessly from one web page to the next. Add links strategically to each page, gradually guiding your visitors through what you do, how you can help them and, finally, encouraging them to make contact or convert.   As experts in website design and website development, WSI OMS can help you to transform your website into a powerful business tool. We also specialise in content marketing, mobile marketing, and social media marketing. Contact us now to learn more.   Please follow and like...

Posted by on Apr 8, 2019 in Pinterest |

250 million people use Pinterest every month. Therefore, if you have yet to include this popular social media platform in your company’s social media marketing strategy, now is the time to do so! The great news is that, when using Pinterest Analytics, it is easy to gain insights into not only who your followers are, but also into what their online preferences are as well as how they behave. Here is what you need to know:   What Pinterest Analytics Can Tell You  Just like most other platforms when it comes to social media marketing, Pinterest Analytics will provide you with details regarding your company profile and the number of impressions that it has received within a specified period of time. You will also be able to find out the following: How many saves/re-pins you have received, How many people have clicked on your pins, and A snap-shot look at how your content has performed overall since opening your Pinterest account.   Audience Insights  Pinterest Analytics can also provide you with helpful insights into the audience that you are reaching and who is engaging with your content the most. You will learn how many people you are reaching and how many of those people are engaging with your brand. You will learn about their age, gender, location, and which device they are using. You can also find out which categories and interests your audience is associated with to give you more ideas for future content marketing.   Worried About Using Pinterest Analytics? Are you worried about making use of Pinterest Analytics? Fear not – this platform is extremely user-friendly and streamlined for your convenience. You will find your Analytics by clicking on the Analytics tab in the top left-hand corner of the navigation bar and go from there.   If you’re determined to truly make the most of your social media marketing and the data insights available to you as a result of this, it may be time to seek professional assistance from the experts.
