Using gifs in your email marketing campaign

Posted by on Sep 30, 2014 in E-mail Marketing, Web Tools |

For any email campaign to be successful, it needs to be planned properly. While some email messages and newsletters are highly successful, companies are finding it increasingly hard to grab the attention of their readers via email. One of the latest trends is to use a gif (a moving image) inside an email. People love gifs – whether it’s a cat gif, a gif of an old person dancing like it’s 1965 at a wedding or a simple gif of something related to a brand that’s moving – this type of motion draws attention. Here’s what you need to know about including gifs in your email marketing campaign: Use it to link to your videos While a gif can be used for entertainment purposes, it can also indicate that the reader should click on the link to watch a video. We recently wrote a post about embedding videos into emails, but not all email clients support this at the moment (most notably, Gmail and Yahoo mails don’t). Using a gif is a great roundabout way to get an email subscriber to watch a video that you want to share with them. Videos are a bit trickier, but most email clients support gifs, including Lotus Notes, Outlook 2000-2003, Outlook for Mac, Apple Mail, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL as well as mobile clients such as Android, Blackberry and iOS Mail. If you want an email marketing campaign that really grabs attention, contact WSI OMS today to find out how we can help you. Please follow and like...

Optimise your products page for selling

Posted by on Sep 16, 2014 in Web Tools, Website Optimization |

If you’ve got an ecommerce site, you obviously want to sell products online. Not only should you concern yourself with listing all your products and having a secure payment gateway, but you also need to focus on the experience you are creating for your customers when they buy from you. Optimising your product pages to make buying from you a pleasurable experience is one of the best investments you can make on your website. Apple, for example, spent almost $10-million per store (they’ve got two online stores). While these stores can be recreated for a fraction of the price, this just goes to show how much time, effort and resources Steve Jobs put into creating the ideal buying experience for Apple’s clients. Here are a few things to consider when optimising your product pages: Make sure you’ve got the best images Hire a professional photographer to take high quality, high res images of your products – these are, ultimately, the only reference point that your customer will have when they want to determine whether they want to buy from you or not. Certain products (like watches or glass that will have a reflection on a home camera) need to be shot within a specific white box to eliminate the glare of the lens. Hire an experience product photographer to get the job done for you. The product also needs to be shot from multiple angles so that your website visitor can inspect it from top, side, bottom etc. Invest in copywriting that sells Your product’s description is the second thing your potential buyer is going to look at. Hire a copywriter who writes for ecommerce sites (even better – get one who has experience writing product descriptions for Bid-or-Buy, Gumtree or Ebay) so that you’ve got the right wording to accompany your high quality pictures. Use Google’s Wonder Wheel to search for keywords

Posted by on Apr 8, 2010 in Web Tools |

If you are in the process of creating a blog or a website that only focusses on a single phrase, how would you choose your navigation to reflect the keywords you have chosen? Google released a new tool in 2009 called Wonder Wheel that you can use to narrow down your keywords. The Google Wonder Wheel creates a visual mind map of specific keywords. It retrieves the relevant phrases that you have entered into Google and it then displays them in a wheel-shaped display. To view the Google Wonder Wheel, do any keyword search on Google and after the results, click on the “options” beneath the textbox where you entered your keywords and then scroll down to the bottom on the left hand side you will find the link “Wonder Wheel”. This tool is meant to provide a more visual display of relevant search keywords and terms. You can use it to quickly create a SEO friendly navigation structure for your website and blog. Let’s suppose you want to create a website or a blog around the term “wedding dresses”. You would search for wedding dresses and then bring up the Google Wonder Wheel. You now decide that your website will also focus on wedding dresses and also bridesmaid dresses.  So you click on “bridesmaid dresses” and a new refined wheel appears. The new wheel now shows relevant categories around your two topics. The keywords shown on the Google Wonder Wheel is the keywords that you can use in planning the topic and structure of your website and blog. These keywords are considered relevant as it is Google that suggested them. Using the Wonder Wheel to find related keywords can be done in under a minute.  This is a very quick and new way to create an instant website plan. Please follow and like...
